That year Japan took its first step toward building a Japanese empire in eastern Asia by invading Manchuria, a fertile, resource-rich province in northern China. ![]() While the United States and Japan jockeyed peaceably for influence in eastern Asia for many years, the situation changed in 1931. To a certain extent, the conflict between the United States and Japan stemmed from their competing interests in Chinese markets and Asian natural resources. Japan’s process of imperial expansion, however, put it on a collision course with the United States, particularly in relation to China. As Japan industrialized during the late 19th century, it sought to imitate Western countries such as the United States, which had established colonies in Asia and the Pacific to secure natural resources and markets for their goods. While Japan’s deadly assault on Pearl Harbor stunned Americans, its roots stretched back more than four decades. When Germany and Italy declared war on the United States days later, America found itself in a global war. On December 7, 1941, Japan staged a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, decimating the US Pacific Fleet. (Image: Library of Congress, LC-USZC4-1663.) This test philosophy equates with that of Apollo (eg Apollo 4 "all up" test), assembling a maximum of stages+modules to get the fastest test data.Ĭonsidering there is a payload dispenser, the sixth point would suggest putting at least boilerplate Starlink satellites onboard and attempting deployment if there is time before reentry.Top Image: Propaganda poster developed by the Office of War Information following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Political leverage from fast visible progress which also gives confidence to financial investors. #There are only 7 days left until the launch fullThere could be milestone payments for a full stack launch. The ship's presence generates little extra risk to the launch tower.Īs others have said, any launch monopolizes the whole site, so why not benefit from experience with the ship. The acquired data for the complete stack is more valuable than for a partial stack. #There are only 7 days left until the launch simulatorThe ship still operates as a mass simulator at launch and then to complete the aerodynamic shape. the ships are just as available as the boosters are so, in principle, including the ship doesn't cause any additional delay.Īlso, even if the ship were to fail lamentably: It wouldn't make sense to launch booster without the ship. If the FAA decision is a good one and SpaceX can file for a flight license, My best guess would be a July/early August launch as long as nothing goes wrong with booster/fullstack static fires.Ĭan only b7 (without s24) test flight 100km? Something will most likely go wrong/didn't expect and SpaceX will have to handle it. SpaceX more or less needs a perfect test campaign for a booster they never flown, new version of the Raptor engine that's never flown and a fullstack WDR & static fire, also something they never done before. so much work that needs to be done, both on paper and on location in Boca Chica. It's also important to understand that a flight may not happen in 2022 at all, there is just. ![]() way more methane on location, we have seen maybe 2-3 tankers with methane so far and they need what, like a 100+ for one flight? (my math/memory can be wrong on this one). So I would still think SpaceX is at least a month away from even trying to go for a flight. We can still see a lot of work on the tower and pad right now, we haven't seen them use methane on the new pad yet and so far. They want to do it for real and see how both vehicles behave. Every time they have to shutdown the pad for a hop, it takes days off from people working on GSE, Tower and the launch pad etc and I just don't think the data is worth it. Their mind is on the orbital(almost) launch, nothing else right now. Elon said in the latest video from Tim Dodd/EverydayAstronaut that hops isn't happening anymore. ![]()
